Night 13 was A Block action again and featured:
- Bad Luck Fale over Kota Ibushi. (Ibushi is eliminated from contention.)
- Tetsuya Naito over Toru Yano.
- AJ Styles over Hiroyoshi Tenzan.
- Togi Makabe over Doc Gallows.
- Hiroshi Tanahashi over Katsuyori Shibata in an incredible main event.
These results leave former win leader Shibata in danger of elimination, while a five way tie for the top still exists between the five winners.
Shibata is now unlikely to win the G1, but his performance makes an NJPW push seem more likely. Credit: NJPW. |
A Block returns on Tuesday at 5:30 a.m. Eastern and at least two of those five will be knocked out of the top spot with the double main event of Styles vs. Fale and Tanahashi vs. Makabe.
Night 14 on Sunday brought B Block back into play and offered a very different story.
- Karl Anderson beat Michael Elgin.
- Yuji Nagata beat Satoshi Kojima. (Both men are already eliminated from contention.)
- Kazuchika Okada beat Yujiro Takahashi.
- Shinsuke Nakamura beat Tomoaki Honma.
- Hirooki Goto beat Tomohiro Ishii.
Okada remains alone on top of B Block, With only two cards left, that makes every match for his runners up Anderson, Nakamura and Goto vital. He would have to lose both of his remaining two matches for Anderson to have a chance to catch up. A loss to Honma on Wednesday and a win over Nakamura while Goto remains undefeated would allow Goto to take the B Block. Shinsuke Nakamura might still be his strongest contender. A win over Honma at the next show takes him to the final night of B Block action where he is scheduled to meet Okada. If he can beat Okada, both men would stand at 14 points, but the win would give Nakamura the B Block victory.
Tuesday should be a vital morning for the competition as the finals of A Block will take shape. Wednesday will see the three B Block runners-up fighting to survive. That will set everything up for Friday, Saturday and Sunday as the 2015 G1 Climax rolls to a close.
